Dr. Sun Yat-sen 160th Anniversary Celebration
HONOLULU, HI — Hawaiʻi will commemorate the 160th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birth on Sunday, November 1, 2026, with historical walking tours, a lei-draping ceremony, a mural unveiling, and an anniversary banquet honoring the revolutionary leader and founder of modern China and his profound ties to Hawaiʻi.
The celebration will include the unveiling of a new Dr. Sun Yat-sen mural and recognition of winners of a statewide Student Essay Competition for Hawaiʻi high school and college students.
Invitations to the official 160th Anniversary Celebration have been extended to Hawaiʻi’s Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Mayor of Honolulu, elected officials, educational and community leaders, and representatives from China.
