Congratulatory letter from the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles

To the Organizing Committee for the Commemoration of the 160th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen:

I am delighted to learn that the overseas Chinese community in Hawaii will soon hold a series of events commemorating the 160th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. On behalf of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles, I wish to extend my warm congratulations and sincere greetings to the organizing associations and all members of the overseas Chinese community in Hawaii.

Dr. Sun Yat-sen was a great national hero, a great patriot, and a great pioneer of China’s democratic revolution. Honolulu was the birthplace of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary activities and witnessed the overseas Chinese community’s generous financial contributions and dedicated support for the cause of transforming and strengthening their ancestral homeland.

Throughout his life, Dr. Sun Yat-sen advocated the call to “Revitalize China” and devoted himself to the pursuit of national reunification. Although he has passed away, his aspirations have been carried forward by succeeding generations. Today, China is steadily advancing along the path of Chinese modernization, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation has entered an irreversible historical process. This is the most fitting tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen.

The overseas Chinese community in Hawaii has always maintained close ties with its ancestral homeland and actively promoted friendship between China and the United States. It is an important participant and contributor to the friendship between the peoples of our two countries. I believe that the overseas Chinese community will continue to firmly support the great cause of China’s national reunification, actively promote friendship between the Chinese and American peoples, and contribute its strength to the realization of the vision of “Revitalizing China.”

With best wishes,

Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles
